Fotografije Floreana Island

Black beach, Floreana, Galapagos Islands by Dallas Krentzel

This beach is composed of eroded lava rocks from the Galapagos' basaltic shield volcanoes, thus, it is black in color. For that reason, it absorbs a lot of sunlight, and by the evening it was very warm to the touch, although not unbearably so. It's also of a much coarser grain than most white sand beaches, which in some ways makes it easier to wash off of your body parts at the end of the day... although for other body parts it made things worse.
